My Yoga Journey

I chose to become a Yoga instructor to assist others in finding more loving ways to cope with the (at times) harsh world we live in. I do this with many styles & modalities.

I have been studying Yoga since I was a teen to help me connect with myself and bring balance into my life. Yoga has assisted me throughout many health issues that have come across my path in life. Yoga has aided me by creating a space of Self - Love and acceptance of my ever-changing body. Bringing harmony to all areas of my life, which in turn ripples out to all I come in contact with. Honoring my time for myself was and still is a struggle for me.

It took me several years to take the plunge to become an instructor of yoga. Becoming an RYT 200 yoga instructor has been an amazing step in my journey to wholeness. Why do I practice Yoga?
For years I have studied Yoga in many forms. It took finding the correct teacher for me to fully find my physical Self. All the modalities I have and continue to study and teach have assisted me on my journey. Yoga, however, is what I used when my health has been difficult.

My passion is to assist all to step into their true power and remember their true Self again. All the modalities I already teach are wonderful for this but I am finally ready to share this special modality with others. I feel Yoga is something that is beneficial every day and in all situations. Helping someone to tap into their body and self with movement, alignment, and breath is an honor.

“…Eyes like a chameleon- to look at all the students, Mouth like a wolf- to speak so students would understand easily, Ears like a puma- to listen to students’ opinion…” Kyozo Suzuki.
“Consciously we teach what we know; unconsciously, we teach who we are.” Hamachek (1999, page 209)

A teacher has a long-lasting impact on their students' lives. A great teacher inspires students towards their full potential. Someone who can balance their own issues with those in their classes offers an enrichment of possibilities. Knowledge of proper Alignment, movement, and breathing. Knowing how to safely assist another through their practice, using modifications and knowing the times to use or not use yoga. Knowing their own limits and when to push further beyond their blankie.  Knowing when they need to ask another teacher for ideas or how to better assist others or themselves.
Using words and examples, as well as hands-on assistance, creating a way to approach issues and many different ways for the student. Being committed, compassionate, dependable, knowledgeable, personable, patient, communicative, encouraging, and supporting others to flow to their potential.  Sharing that there is more than one style of yoga and why others may be more beneficial for their student. Is Empathetic yet stands in their power, resulting in helping in a way that is not leading to an overdependence on either part. Ability to see pain versus potential with another’s journey. Most of all, sharing their passion with others while integrating all the changes as snowflakes.
